BURZUM RAMLEHBACHELOR PROJECT2021A Sacred Clone of an Angel
The Stench of Her Body Piercing Through the Rot of This Place

In my work there are certain threads which are repetitive. And this will be no exception, however, the subject of this project is unlike anything I’ve addressed before. This will be an inner journey that questions the duality between the devoted and the deceit. Following the ethics of the sincere and the artificial, divorce from sanity and faith, slowly losing your mind as you're caught in forces beyond your control. Placing an Object of Power (OoP) in me that turns into a circle of nothingness. An object I’m not able to break or bend alone. A ring made of industrial steel.

I want this to be my most complex, harrowing, altogether dense work I’ve ever made. And by this, putting me under the immense pressure of the massive steel ring. A steel ring representing time, a crown of thorns or an unbreakable circle of self-destructive thoughts constantly fighting with my vision. The object of power is personal to whomever carries it, and it might as well be something different. Therefore, this project will show my passing of these immense objects to try and control the divine - as well as the violent consequences of failing to do so. If an object of power is able to exist within a cloned angel, then it is not enough for her to take it in by look or grasp. The subject must go beyond this and be aware, she must recognise herself as grasping and looking. Her act must be completely given over to herself and the subject herself must be nothing other than what she is conscious of being.

These objects of power is built as a un-concession connection, and over time I will understand that these objects does not exist. I may be the deceived one as I’m not able to bend the objects. It will slowly fade into a clone of a reality I once imagined. These objects of powers can cause or be results of intrusions upon the perceived reality. Decoding these types of altered objects may be for some soothing and for some frightening. They may dissolve you from the strain of your past and futures, but could also capture it. With an overwhelming sensation I find myself between these ordinary objects I give power, and in this moment I’ve told myself to be all-powerful. All I have to do is pass on my rot of power by give birth to a sacred clone of an angel that will be able to carry on this immense object of power. The power is already happening as it is everywhere.

An steel ring
A manifestation of a practice

This project is is a visualisation of varying objects of heavy (Burzum) and light (Ramleh) motifs through a collection consisting of 5 outfits that move fluidly in the landscape between clothing and art with a sculptural approach to shaping the design given within the framework of isolation . Each creation should be considered sculptural art, which arrests in beauty and manages to capture a mass audience. The interaction between the interaction of the viewer and the collection is strongly present. Not only do I want the wearer of the collection to feel the weight of the creation, but the viewer to feel the weight of the object by seeing, and through touch know that this is something that exists. Through this non-existent visual reference, which only exists as vague memories of what has been, what is now and what may come, I want to flesh this out through a collection of Objects of Power and cloned angels who carry these objects for me .

The project's title Burzum Ramleh is my Asa Nisi Masa, a composition without meaning. A vague title which, through the project, will be shaped into something deep through the depiction of my thoughts and stories. Subtitle A Sacred Clone of an Angel comes from a desire not to carry this collection alone, I want to give myself over to someone stronger than myself, which can help with the weight of the metaphor of an industrial ring of steel. At the same time, I depict these angels as clones, as a reassuring point of view towards myself that the outcome does not have to be perfect. Furthermore, the subtitle continues with The Stench of her Body Piercing Through the Rot of This Place, meaning that things haunt one. A depiction of the project's ongoing problematic by carrying on a circle that never lets go, you can feel the smell that lingers from where you were, even if you have moved on, something will always linger. Objects one surrounds oneself with daily that give one association about the past, present or future. An object without meaning or value, which nevertheless pursues one with an outside power.

Therefore, I have created a circular symbol that represents this industrial circle of steel that I remember. 12 symbols forming a circle visualizing the coming together of myself, the objects and the figures - Where I release two symbols in the circle, one for where I was and one for where I end, the five cloned angels and the five objects. In the circular symbol there is an empty space in the middle with life around it spinning and pulling itself in all directions. The circular symbol is intended to soften the boundaries between the Objects of Power and the cloned angels.

"To find beauty and strength in a struggle to rediscover a stronger connection to my relationships around the dichotomy of object and figure through a deep personal exploration of oneself - an opposition of clothing and object created in isolation."
